In Sonora’s coast there’s an ethnic group that is one of the most ancient in Americas. They’ve been living on an island for about 5000 years. Since 40 years they’re living on the mainland fighting to preserve the culture. They have no “formal” government, they use the old indigenous form of politic.

They got it!!! After years of fighting the city of Cheran is in autonomy. They have them own government and police. Everything started when they start fighting against the wood merchant who wants to exploit all the area leaving them in poverty. Before they rise against that system the area was in criminal organizations hands. At the moment who take the decisions are the people with popular meeting where everybody can express his own opinion.
